Parent/Carer Consultations

If you just need a professional ear for a chat about your child’s behaviour, family life, or your role as a parent or carer, I can help.

Being responsible for and loving a young person can be overwhelming at times. Sometimes, our children’s behaviour worries, upsets, and angers us and we can struggle to find a way to approach and deal with it.

A confidential chat with someone who is not only a professional children’s counsellor, but also a parent myself,  may help you put things in perspective and consider what your next steps will be.

Why might you need this?

  • Your child is sad, angry, anxious, or perhaps depressed and you don’t know how to help them.

  • Your child’s behaviour at home or at school is a problem.

  • You think your child needs help but counselling or other interventions haven’t helped in the past.

  • You have a lot of questions about how I work, how counselling works, and whether it may work for your child.

  • You’re overwhelmed and you need someone to talk to.

  • You’d like your child to start attending counselling sessions and they are under 11 years old.

If you’re thinking about investing in counselling for your child, I’d recommend a consultation.

It’s necessary if they are under 11 years old.

Often, parents/carers I see are really upset, worried, and angry to name just a few emotions.

Taking an hour to focus on issues at home and school that are affecting your child and the family dynamics can be very useful. Sometimes it’s helpful just to gather some more information on how you can support and understand them and the issues better.

Counselling is not always the right intervention for everyone, of course. But, it does give us a chance to decide together what support may be best for your child.
